In alignment with 2024 being declared the International Year of Millets, the Centre for Peace Praxis, in collaboration with the Agricultural Department of Karnataka, organized Millet Thinteera, a conference dedicated to promoting the cultivation and consumption of millets. This event celebrated the nutritional, economic, and ecological significance of these super grains through a series of enlightening sessions and engaging discussions.
The conference brought together agricultural experts, nutritionists, farmers, and sustainability advocates to share insights on the benefits of millets, their role in addressing food security, and their potential to combat climate change. Participants explored the rich heritage of millet farming in India and learned practical ways to incorporate these versatile grains into their diets.
A key highlight was the full millet meal and an array of millet-based snacks served to all attendees, showcasing the diversity and deliciousness of millet cuisine. Local vendors were also given the opportunity to set up stalls, creating a vibrant marketplace that celebrated community-driven entrepreneurship and sustainable practices.
Millet Thinteera was a resounding success, leaving participants inspired to embrace millets as a staple in their lives while fostering a deeper appreciation for sustainable agriculture and local food systems.
